Spencer Green

Growing up, I always played basketball and soccer. It wasn’t until 8th grade when I found a passion for golf. During my first season, our middle school team won the Dublin Invitational: the biggest tournament in the central Columbus area. Winning this tournament motivated me to keep pursuing golf. I fell in love with the process of getting better. My first year on the High School team, I was on JV. I was one of the straightest hitters, but I couldn’t hit the ball very far. I worked hard in the offseason to get stronger, and I gained approximately 60 yards off the tee. As a result, I started hitting greens more frequently, and I got opportunities to play on the Varsity team. I took advantage, but I didn’t get in the main lineup. My junior year is when I was officially placed in the lineup. Our team had great success, winning the conference and sectional tournament. I was First Team All OCC, averaging 77.5. I was named Most Improved Player, dropping 13 strokes in my average from freshmen to junior year. I am continuously working hard in the classroom as well, ranking in the top 10% of my class. I think I have the drive to become an even better golfer with my coach Gerry Hammond, and I think I have the passion and sacrifice that’s needed to be on a college golf team.
